I recently visited the incredible Titanic Spa in Huddersfield for a few days of pure relaxation.

After about two and a half hours on the train from London we reached Huddersfield. Luckily Titanic Spa was only an extra five minute taxi ride from the train station, so the girly weekend could soon begin.

Pulling up to the spa it was quite deceiving as the large building doesn’t appear to be somewhere that people would go to feel pampered, but as soon as you step inside it’s clear that you’re in for a treat.

Titanic Swimming Pool

We checked into our apartment, which I have to say was amazing! It was beautifully decorated, clean and very homely. The balcony looked over the sweeping countryside of Huddersfield, and within just a few minutes I had forgotten about the hustle and bustle of everyday life and became immersed in the countryside…and was desperate to get into the spa!

We were given a guided tour of the spa facilities, then headed straight for the Titanic Heat and Ice Experience to wind down after the journey.

I’ve used saunas and steam rooms before but this was like the Holy Grail of them all!

There were five different heat rooms to choose from! A saunarium, aromatherapy room, crystal steam room, herbal infusion room and sauna cabin. It was a real treat being able to switch between the rooms, although my clear favourite was the crystal steam room – I could’ve stayed in there all day.

There are also some very relaxing footbaths to use between the heat rooms if you fancy a little pampering purely for your feet – perfect!

Once we’d finished checking out the heat rooms, it was time to cool down – I chose the ice room as it seemed like the most relaxing way to lower my temperature (and close my pores) because it’s a very chilled room where you gently rub ice over your body to reduce your temperature. If that doesn’t sound exciting enough for you, then you could also choose from the plunge pool, experience showers or (the super cold) bucket shower – which resembles the ice bucket challenge!

Whichever heating and cooling route you take through the rooms, it’s the perfect way to relax and refresh.

After spending plenty of time opening my pores and forgetting all of the stresses of daily life, I had a full body massage using Neom Organics products. The massage oil had a gorgeous fragrance and soothed my aches and pains perfectly.

From start to finish the massage was perfect! Rachel, the therapist, had asked beforehand what pressure I would like and amazingly she managed to maintain the correct pressure for the full 55 minutes. I have no idea how – I get exhausted after trying (and usually failing) to give a massage for five minutes! It was finished with a relaxing head massage – which was an unexpected but very welcome surprise. Just thinking about it makes me desperate to get away from this computer screen and run back to Huddersfield!

By the time I finally dragged myself off the massage bed all I wanted to do was sleep, so I made my way into the relaxation lounge. The best way to describe this room is beanbag heaven! It’s a dimly lit room filled with comfortable day beds, beanbags and cushions…and I headed straight for the beanbag pit. It was perfect!

Reluctantly, I pulled myself away from the beanbags when hunger struck…but it was worth it! The meal was delicious, and the service was fantastic! Titanic Spa knew exactly what gluten was (unlike many places) and had a number of options for me to choose from.

They even sent a gluten-free breakfast to my apartment to be ready for me in the morning!

After a fantastic sleep in the super comfy bed, I woke up ready to try the chocolate chamber. We were shown the chocolate mud balls and rubbed the chocolate mud onto our bodies before relaxing as it dried. It smells delicious but don’t lick it – it’s mud with a chocolate fragrance sadly so it won’t taste anywhere near as good as it smells!

Excuse the (kind of scary) white face – we were given a white chocolate mud ball for the face and brown for the body…

Showers from the chamber ceiling began to sprinkle water enabling us to wash the chocolate mud off, revealing perfectly soft skin…seriously, my skin has never felt that soft!

After a delicious (and yet again perfectly catered for) gluten-free lunch it was (sadly) time to leave Titanic Spa.

Titanic Spa is a favourite place of many of the Hollyoaks stars, as well as the stunningly gorgeous couple – Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright…and if it’s good enough for them then it’s good enough for me!

I left feeling relaxed, pampered and (to be honest) sad that my treatments had ended. I will definitely go back though! I’ve already planned to take more friends with me next time.

Make the most of chocolate week, and get over to Titanic Spa for your very own chocolate chamber experience! If you’re reading this after chocolate week – which falls on 13-19 October 2014, then you still need to take a visit to Titanic Spa as their treatments, and the general spa experience is something you need to see for yourself.

It’s pamper perfection from the minute you enter the doors to the minute you leave!
