Hey everyone! Sorry for being away from my blog for so long. I’ve obviously been posting on all of my social media channels a lot recently, but didn’t realise how long it had been since I last posted anything on here!
I went on holiday with my son in October and when we came home I spent a few weeks feeling very unwell, so took some much needed time out from work (and sadly from play too). But I’m starting to feel much better now so I thought I’d finally write a review post on some gorgeous bikinis that I was sent to test on my holiday…
And as the website they’re from is offering 10% off all items on Cyber Monday (27 November), it’s a perfect time to post this!
Before I get started, this post isn’t sponsored in the form of payment, but I did receive the bikinis for free with the understanding my review would be completely honest.
The bikinis were sent to me by UK Swimwear and the timing couldn’t have been better as I jetted off on holiday just a few days later. Perfect!
When UK Swimwear got in touch and asked which bikinis I would like to try, I chose the Pour Moi sets – one in black and one in multi-colour. And I’m crazy happy to finally have found some bikini tops which actually fit. And don’t budge at all (despite the fact I have a tendency to jump around like a toddler when anywhere near a pool).
Seriously, I fell in love with one of these bikini tops so much while on holiday that I actually ended up wearing it as a bra in the evenings too because it was more comfortable than my actual bra!
Although both bikinis were in the same range (Pour Moi) they had slightly different fits, so I’m going to give a mini review of each set.
The Black Pour Moi Pleated Adjustable Halter Underwired Bikini Top and Bottoms
Appearance and comfort: The bikini top has a very simple design, which attracted me to it as I figured I would go for one plain bikini and one bright bikini. The ruched design on the cups is lovely as I find it very flattering and I particularly love that it has two strings on each side to tie up the halterneck as I tend to find one thin string on a halterneck bikini top can really dig in – having two strings on each side helped to minimise that.
As I mentioned above, this top is without doubt the most comfortable bikini top I have ever worn. I have a small back in comparison to my cup size and so always struggle to find bikini tops (and bras) that fit well. Seriously, it’s a pain in the arse.
Anyway, when this one arrived and I saw it didn’t have different clip options for the back to fasten, I initially felt concerned, but it fitted perfectly. And didn’t budge. There was no point during my holiday when I had any bikini top malfunctions and, considering I spent most of my holiday dancing, playing beach volleyball and doing cartwheels and jumps into the pool, that’s impressive!
Out of habit from previous bikini malfunctions, I did initially keep checking my top ready to make random adjustments, before realising I didn’t actually need to.
I absolutely love that this bikini is underwired but not padded as the underwire meant it felt mega supportive all day but the fact there was no padding meant it felt like a second skin. Both support and comfort together – how often do you find that!?
The bottoms have the same cute ruched design as the top on the front, but have a plain back and they tie up at the sides. They’re not quite full brief coverage so leave a little cheeky hint of booty, which I really like, but I did tend to keep getting a ‘wedgy’ with them, which may annoy me more than others just because I’m so active. If you just want to chill by the pool then they’ll be perfect! In the interest of honesty though, if the brand offered a Brazilian or generally smaller option for the matching bottoms I would probably choose that as I prefer that kind of fit.
Washing: The bikini washes well and holds its shape brilliantly. I forgot to take my gentle hand wash liquid on holiday and so decided to risk washing the bikini using shower gel (because there was no way I was going through the whole holiday without washing it). The bikini survived the washes perfectly and it still looks as good as new!
Sizing: I know how difficult it can be ordering something like a bikini online, so thought I’d give you my opinion on the fit of this bikini so you can use that to help make your decision on the right size to order. After initially ordering my usual correct size for the top, I ended up ordering one size smaller than usual and it fitted perfectly. I realise this may not be the same for everyone, but thought it might help you to know. Returns are free so you could always exchange for the correct size if needed. The bottoms fitted in my usual size perfectly though.
Quality: The bikini is made of 82% polyamide and 18% elastane with the trims made of 100% polyester. I found it to be very good quality – on my holiday alone it put up with sun cream spray (which I need to get better at putting on because it goes everywhere when I do it), LOADS of saltwater from both the sea and the pool, and as I mentioned before, shower gel. It is still in brilliant condition and I can’t wait for next summer to wear it again!
Price: The Pour Moi Pleated Adjustable Halter Underwired Bikini Top costs £28.00, and the Pour Moi Pleated Tie Bikini Brief costs £17.00. The top is about the same price as I would usually pay for a bikini top, and in my opinion it is worth every single penny. The bottoms do cost more than I would usually spend on them, and although they are worth it with the quality, I wouldn’t personally choose these ones again as they don’t quite fit how I would like them to, but they are brilliant quality and a lovely design.
The Multi-Coloured Pour Moi High Dive Padded Underwired Bikini Top and Bottoms
Appearance and comfort: This bikini top is packed full of colour and although it’s from the same brand and has the same shape as the other bikini top, it’s fairly different. This one has light padding in the bikini top cups and has one thick string/strap for the halterneck, and the bottoms aren’t tie up.
The multi-coloured pattern is gorgeous! I’m not usually a fan of super bright bikinis but this caught my eye on the website, and in the sunshine it looks even better. Perfect holiday colours!
As I mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of padding in bikini tops but this one has very light padding, which is totally fine. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable and has a great balance between being comfortable and stylish as it’s really supportive and also provides a great push up boost – which made me feel effortlessly waaaay more glam than I’ve ever felt by the pool. Until (of course) I started bouncing around like a hyperactive child. 😉
This bikini top also has a ruched effect on the cups but instead of horizontal, it’s simply gathered on the bottom of the cups and is a really great way of adding a little extra cuteness to the design.
The bottoms in this set are (in my opinion) way better than the bottoms in the other set. Other people may disagree but these fit me much better and they are much more of a cheeky fit, which I really like. They also didn’t budge even when climbing out of the pool, which we all know is something most bikini bottoms tend to do, so these are a winner for me!
Washing: This bikini washes just as well as the other one and survived all of the same things. Thumbs up!
Sizing: This bikini fitted me slightly differently to the other one… the top was my usual size but I went one size up for the bottoms. As I said earlier, I realise this may not be the same for everyone, but thought it might help you to know. Again, returns are free so you could always exchange for the correct size if needed.
Quality: This bikini is made of 80% polyamide and 20% elastane with the trims made of 100% polyester. Just like the other one, I found it to be very good quality. I made sure I treated them both the same as I would normally treat my bikinis (which means they were treated terribly 😉 ) and they both still look like new. Fantastic quality!
Price: The Pour Moi High Dive Padded Underwired Bikini Top costs £28.00, and the Pour Moi High Dive Brief costs £16.00. The cost for the top is pretty much the same as I would usually spend, and worth every penny (just like the other top). And because I found these bottoms fitted me much better than most full bikini briefs I would buy these ones myself.
Frustratingly, both sets have currently sold out on the UK Swimwear website, but they are offering 10% off all items on Cyber Monday (27 November), so go check out some bikinis and grab a bargain!
