Last summer I reviewed Project Fit in London and have since been inspired to add more HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) into my workouts, adapting all of my cardio workouts to be HIIT.
It’s a more efficient way to burn fat than cardio that involves running at the same pace constantly, and let’s be honest, we all want to know better ways to burn fat.
For those of you who don’t live in London and are unable to try Project Fit, Joel Hilton, co-founder and owner of the awesome workout, has given a few example workouts that anyone can do on a treadmill to get a great HIIT workout of cardio – treadmill HIIT training:
5 minute routine
Start at your comfortable 5km speed
Every 10 seconds, for 60 seconds, go up in speed one number
So…if you start at 10kph, after 10 seconds speed goes up to 11, 20 seconds speed up to 12, after 30 seconds speed up to 13, 40 seconds speed up to 14, 50 seconds speed up to 15
After 60 seconds go back to your start speed for 10 seconds and then off you go again
Repeat this 5 times.
15 minute routine – Speed intervals
Start with a 4 minute warm up at your comfortable speed
30 second sprint (full throttle)
30 seconds walk to recover
Then repeat this 8 times
3 minute cool down
Whichever routine you choose you’re sure to feel like you’ve had a fantastic fat-burning workout!
